Ex-Liverpool midfielder Redknapp: Man Utd's Carrick impressed for England

Jamie Redknapp felt that Michael Carrick did a brilliant job in England's midfield in their most recent World Cup qualifier against Montenegro.

The Three Lions drew 1-1 with the Montenegrins in Podgorica on Tuesday night and although Redknapp was slightly critical of the team's performance, he felt that Manchester United's Carrick set a very good example.

"Michael Carrick is in the form of his life and we saw him at his best in the first half," the former Liverpool man wrote in his column for the Daily Mail.

"His passing success rate was 92.2 per cent and he deserves more praise for his work. Everyone is starting to see what a player he is.

"His simplicity is his success but it can also go unnoticed. It's a good habit and England would be a better team if others followed his example."
