Recent reports suggest that Gary McAllister is not a candidate for the New York Red Bull coaching vacancy.
The former Leeds United and Liverpool midfielder has been heavily linked with the role in recent weeks but it is believed that the Red Bulls are on the verge of hiring Paulo Sousa.
Source says that McAllister is not in the running and that New York will soon announce the appointment of former Swansea City and QPR boss Sousa, who is currently at the helm of Hungarian club Videoton.
It has been suggested that Sousa is set to leave Videoton for family reasons before stepping into the Red Bull Arena role which was made vacant when Hans Backe was sacked late last year.
