Harry Kewell and Melbourne Victory have opened discussions regarding a new contract for the attacking veteran.
The 33-year old scored eight goals in 25 appearances in his first season with the A-League club and although he is on a three-year deal, both parties are free to opt out of the contract.
However, that does not seem to be the case as Kewell's management company and the Victory are looking to come to an agreement for the former Leeds United, Liverpool and Galatasaray winger to remain in Melbourne.
Victory managing director Richard Wilson added: "They told us that Harry wants to stay and we want him too, it's just a matter of sitting down and crunching through negotiations.""Harry would like to stay at Melbourne Victory provided we can come to a suitable arrangement," Andrew Neophitou of Sports and Entertainment Limited told the Herald Sun.
