Ex-Liverpool keeper James wants to play on

Former Liverpool and Aston Villa goalkeeper David James isn't ready to hang up the gloves just yet.

The Daily Mail says James, who will be 42 on August 1 and behind only Ryan Giggs in Premier League appearances, still has top-flight playing ambitions.

After two seasons with Bristol City, James wants to become the oldest player to appear in the Premier League - beating John Burridge, who kept goal for Manchester City aged 43 and 162 days.

So James is now looking to join a top-tier squad, saying: "I'm confident I can still compete for a place in the team."
