Ex-Liverpool defender Scales: I feel for Chelsea's young players

Former Liverpool and Tottenham defender John Scales feels for the young players at Chelsea after Roberto di Matteo's sacking.

Scales wrote in the Daily Star Sunday: "Does Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich really know what he wants?

"Where do he and Chelsea go now? Sadly, it will be much of the same while the billionaire is in charge at Stamford Bridge.

"Rafa Benitez will come in, then be dismissed on a whim. Stability will be out of the window - again.

"Meanwhile, the kids in the Blues' academy will suffer.

"They have had some good ones in recent years like Scott Sinclair, Jack Cork, Josh McEachran and Michael Mancienne - but they were suffocated by the continued arrival of big-name managers signing big-name players to please the big chief.

"Where are we or Chelsea going to find the next Rooney, Gerrard or Lampard if a club sacks a manager for what, winning?"
