Former Liverpool boss Kenny Dalglish attempted to set up a swap involving Andy Carroll for Manchester City striker Carlos Tevez, it has been revealed.
The Sunday Mirror says Dalglish did attempt to get rid of Carroll in a straight swap deal with Tevez, according to a new book titled 'Mancini: Diary of a Champion'.
The book chronicles the day-to-day events of City's title-winning 2011-12 season and gives details of the player trade proposed by the Liverpool manager.
There were rumours of the swap deal circulating during the January transfer window, which have now been substantiated by a City insider who claims 'tentative enquiries' were made from Anfield.
According to the book, Liverpool were prepared to take a £10million hit on the misfiring England striker - reducing his price to the same £25million figure that City had valued Tevez at.
