Ex-Leeds winger Gradel confident he will succeed with Saint-Etienne

Former Leeds United star Max Gradel believes he can make it in France's Ligue 1.

The 23-year old Ivorian departed Elland Road for Saint-Etienne on transfer deadline day and admits he has taken some time to adapt to football in France but is confident he will eventually succeed.

"It is true there is a big difference between the Championship and Ligue 1," Gradel told French newspaper L'Equipe.

"In England it is much more open, teams dare a lot more. In France, the game is more secure and tactical.

"But I have watched it closely and I have the right qualities to make a name for myself in France."
