Former Houston Dynamo, Toronto FC and New York Red Bull defender Kevin Goldthwaite has been snapped up by USSF Division 2 outfit Portland Timbers.
The 27-year olds contract with the Red Bulls was waived in August to make room for Rafael Marquez and the Timbers have been the lucky recipients of his signature, adding some experience and quality to their squad.
Goldthwaite returns to Portland after his loan stint with the Timbers in 2005 but is not expected to be available for about two weeks as he recovers from injury.
