Ian Black could become the first player signed by Rangers' newco but only if the club plays in Scotland's First Division next season.
The 27-year old midfielder departed Heart of Midlothian at the end of last season after his contract expired and is now a free agent on the hunt for a new club.
Black has been linked with 'Gers during the off-season and has since reportedly agreed personal terms with the Glasgow club, however, he will not officially sign if Charles Green's newco are put down to the Third Division.
10 Scottish Premier League clubs voted no against Rangers re-entering the top flight and they now have to wait and see exactly which competition they will compete in next season before Black, or any other interested player commits.
