Ex-Fulham, Everton midfielder Collins desperate for title glory with Celtic

John Collins is determined to taste Scottish Premiership success with Celtic as a coach.

The 47-year old was unable to lift a domestic title with the Hoops during his six-year spell at Parkhead between 1990 and 1996 because of the dominance of Glasgow rivals Rangers at the time.

This season, Ronny Deila's Celtic side are closing in on another premiership and former Monaco, Fulham and Everton midfielder Collins is excited to be a part of it.

"Being second in Glasgow is not what you want," he said.

"It makes your life a lot less pleasurable, so to win it as a coach would be very fulfilling.

"Those were tough times for the club and now we're top of the pile. It's important we stay there for some time to come."

However, Collins was not yet penciling anything in: "We are in the driving seat but nothing is concluded.

"We don't like talking about things in advance. Football is a dangerous game if you think too far ahead."
