Former Nottingham Forest boss Billy Davies is being linked with the Preston North End job.

The Daily Mail says Davies could be in line for a return to Preston after Phil Brown was sacked.

New chairman Peter Ridsdale, who only joined the club on December 6, wielded the axe after Brown failed to halt a worrying slump of one win in 11 games.

And former Nottingham Forest chief Davies has been mentioned in the Preston boardroom as possible successor to the former Hull chief.
