Former Everton striker Graham Stuart was impressed by Gareth Barry's winning debut against Chelsea.
Stuart admits the prospect of the experienced star lining up alongside starlet Ross Barkley is one which excites him.
"I thought Gareth Barry was outstanding," Stuart told talkSPORT.
"Everybody has talked about them signing Romelu Lukaku and James McCarthy but, for me, getting Barry in on loan was a masterstroke.
"Having somebody with Barry's experience and ball retention skills, and then having the shining light that is Ross Barkley, who can dance past players, is fantastic.
"Every time Barkley gets the ball you can feel the excitement in the crowd."
