Ex-Everton, Man City midfielder Heath backs Chinese forward Long Tan

Orlando City head coach Adrian Heath is confident that Long Tan will continue to develop into a quality striker.

The first Chinese-born player to play MLS is currently with the Lions in the USL Pro league via the Atlanta Blackhawks, Tampa Bay Rowdies, Vancouver Whitecaps, DC United and Richmond Kickers and ex-Everton, Stoke City and Manchester City midfielder Heath feels he will only get better the more he plays the American style of game.

"You could see he had talent,'' Heath told the Orlando Sentinel. "He went and signed with Tampa Bay [in 2010], and I've tried to sign him every summer since.

"Once he gets in a rhythm of playing regularly and getting a full 90 minutes under his belt regularly, he will become a lot sharper in his play. We think there's a lot more growth in him as a player."

Tan joined Orlando in February and has scored two goals in his opening three outings for the second-placed side.
