Ex-Everton defender Willams charged by FA for attacking U12 coach

Former Premier League defender Ashley Williams has been charged by the FA after allegedly attacking an opposition coach.

The incident took place at an Under-12s match recently, with the 38-year-old said to have “completed lost it" at a match involving his son.

Per The Mail+, the ex-Wales international ran onto the pitch to confront a man after an incident involving Williams' child.

An opposition coach attempted to intervene, which led to the ex-Swansea defender further losing his temper.

There is footage of the incident as well, which will hurt Williams' chances of getting away without punishment.

A statement from Williams read: "'Ashley had been assaulted and was defending himself.

"We have 45 witnesses – including people associated with the two teams who were about to use the pitch - who will back up our version of events and we will defend Ashley vigorously."
