English striker Francis Jeffers looks set to stay with the Newcastle Jets for at least the remainder of the current A-League season.
The former Everton and Arsenal starlet has been in superb form in the first six matches of his 10-match guest stint with the Hunter club which is due to expire on January 3 and coach Branko Culina has indicated he may be around as the Jets push towards the finals.
Although he didn't exactly say it, Culina hinted at an extended stay for the 29-year old Jeffers as his form has been very strong in helping Newcastle notch up four wins and two draws in their past six outings.
"He's been superb for us," Culina said.
"He's a leader for us as well. He's a quiet individual but one that very much has pride in himself and how he goes about his tasks.
"He's certainly fitted in well with the rest of the team.
"It's a credit to other players around him. They've accepted him.
"Francis has had a difficult time. He hadn't played football in about five months."
