Former Crystal Palace star Dwight Gayle says he is keen on proving a point in the Premier League with Newcastle United.
Gayle was unceremoniously sold to Newcastle United by Crystal Palace last summer but the striker managed to enjoy a sensational campaign in the Championship, spearheading the Magpies successful promotion charge into the Premier League by scoring 23 goals in just 32 league starts.
And the 27-year-old has revealed that he personally wants to make a mark in the top flight after being dumped by Palace less than 12 months ago.
Gayle told NUFC TV: "The season last year was all about getting to the Premier League.
"The fact we got there shows what you get if you put in hard work. I'm sure we'll work doubly hard to prove ourselves this year.
"Everyone has their own personal reasons. But myself, I want to perform as well as I did last season. I'm looking forward to it."
