Ex-Chelsea coach Wilkins says Torres must be dropped

Former Chelsea coach Ray Wilkins says manager Carlo Ancelotti must drop £50 million man Fernando Torres.

Wilkins, unexpectedly sacked as Ancelotti's assistant in November, wants to see Didier Drogba - not Torres - start as lone striker in next week's Champions League quarterfinal, second leg away to Manchester United, where they trail 1-0.

"I would play Didier up top on his own, with (Florent) Malouda on the left and either Nicolas Anelka or Salomon Kalou on the right," Ancelotti's close confidant told the Daily Mail.

"Why? Because I would play a 4-3-3 system and at this level you cannot accommodate players. It has to be one or the other and there's three at Chelsea. There's Anelka, Drogba and Torres - it can only be one of them."
