Ex-Celtic, Aberdeen winger Smith off Colorado Rapids' disabled list

Colorado Rapids have removed Scottish winger Jamie Smith from their disabled list after eight months.

The 31-year old sustained a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his knee during last season's MLS play-offs but is now close to returning to action.

Former Celtic man Smith, who joined Colorado from Aberdeen in 2009, was on the bench for the Rapids as they lost 2-1 to San Jose Earthquakes on Wednesday night.

In addition to Smith's news, the Denver club have waived 2012 Supplemental Draft selection and Japanese midfielder Kohei Yamada after failing to make a first team appearance.
