Former Brisbane Roar captain Craig Moore has been sacked by Greek Super League club Kavala. The 34-year old joined the Greek club in January to undertake an 18-month contract, mainly to maintain form and fitness prior to the World Cup in June.

But news has emerged that the central defender has been axed by the club because of an off-field incident which leaves Moore's Australian national team hopes in limbo as it is unlikely he will be able to find another club prior to the tournament in South Africa.
