Former Brisbane Roar defender Stuart McLaren is expected to be appointed the assistant coach of the North Queensland Fury.
Whilst it is still unclear who will be installed as the head coach, interim boss Archie Fraser told the Townsville Bulletin that McLaren's appointment was a very positive one for the club.
''It was key that we got an Australian coach that understood the A-League and to take that further still, it was important to have an Australian who understands Queensland,'' Fraser said.
Fraser added that McLaren had received plenty of praise from FFA technical director Han Berger and he is being touted as one of the next top coaches coming through the ranks.
''He came very highly recommended by Han,'' Fraser added.
''The way he delivered the content at his A level coaching course really impressed. He is thought to be one of the young Australian coaches with the greatest potential."
