Former Barcelona captain Carles Puyol is quietly confident of Lionel Messi staying.

The Barca captain's deal expires at the end of this season.

Puyol told RAC1: "I recently spoke with him.

"I can feel it, with envy. It would be very good news for the Catalans if he stayed, I think he is in the best place.

"Afterwards, everyone decides what they want and it will be necessary to understand and respect the decision that they make."
