Former Arsenal striker Lukas Podolski has discussed past rumours of a move to Liverpool back in 2009 when leaving Bayern Munich.

Instead, Podolski says it was Manchester City he spoke with.

He told FourFourTwo magazine: "It wasn't Liverpool; it was Manchester City around then.

"I met them in a hotel in Munich. I had other offers, from Germany and other countries, and could have earned more money, but I wanted to play for Köln again.

"I don't like the way people talk about my time at Bayern. It was a nice experience. I was young, I played with top players, I scored lots of goals and I got plenty of assists."
