Ex-Arsenal striker Hartson: England players would love Tottenham boss Redknapp

Former Arsenal and West Ham United striker John Hartson feels Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp should be the next coach of England.

Hartson firmly believes Redknapp, his former manager at West Ham, should be in charge of England rather than Fabio Capello.

"The England players might not be allowed to say it, but every one of them would be on absolute cloud nine if they had Harry as their manager," he told the Mail on Sunday.

"Capello has had great success in Spain and Italy but it is hard for him to realise what the English player thinks. Harry knows, and look at the England players he has helped to create; Michael Carrick, Joe Cole, Rio Ferdinand, Jermain Defoe, Frank Lampard.

"Harry could be the England manager and I'm not just saying it to pat my mate on the back. He has got the best out of players throughout his career."
