Nicolas Anelka has been appointed in a consultancy role with Dutch club Roda JC.
The French striker, who most recently acted as player-manager in the Indian Super League with Mumbai City, has agreed to act as a consultant for the Eredivisie club.
With Swiss-Russian businessman Aleksei Korotaev recently taking a minority ownership in Roda, the club has opted to make some changes in a bid to improve their standing in Dutch football.
Former Arsenal, Manchester City, Chelsea and Real Madrid star Anelka will focus on the football academy and will consult on the French transfer market.
Roda's technical director Ton Caanen told the club's official website: "When I met Nicolas in Dubai, I had conversations with him about football.
"I immediately had the idea that I not only had to deal with a former football player, but also someone who has a very interesting idea about football in general.
"We are proud that we can add someone of his caliber to our organization. We will now discuss with Aleksei Korotaev how we are going to give precise details on his role."
Roda currently sit second bottom on the Eredivisie table, three points clear of bottom-placed Go Ahead Eagles, and one point from safety.
