Former Arsenal and Everton striker Francis Jeffers is impressing in his trial with A-League club Newcastle Jets.
The 29-year old, who has also had stints with Charlton Athletic, Rangers, Ipswich Town and Blackburn rovers, has not played since March when he was released by Sheffield Wednesday.
But he is now in Newcastle, training with the Jets with the view to a ten-match guest stint if the club is happy to take him.
At this stage, it seems the Jets are likely to take him, especially after recent injuries to strikers Michael Bridges and Jeremy Brockie and a distinct lack of goals from players in gold shirts this season.
