Ex-Aalborg, Sporting Kansas City keeper Nielsen appointed as Oklahoma City Energy head coach

USL Pro expansion franchise Oklahoma City Energy FC has appointed Jimmy Nielsen as its inaugural head coach.

Oklahoma City are set to kick off in the 2014 USL Pro season and will go into their first campaign having snared the signature of former Aalborg, Millwall, Leicester City and Sporting Kansas City goalkeeper Nielsen.

Club CEO Bob Funk Jr. expressed his delight at the appointment of Nielsen: "He's got great energy. He knows the talent that is required and his charisma is infectious."

In addition, Oklahoma City Energy have also formed an affiliation with Nielsen's former club SKC who won the 2013 MLS Cup earlier this month.

"It's been an exciting couple of weeks," added Funk Jr.

"We have a lot of commonalities. We really like the organization."
