Patrice Evra hopes Manchester United fans do not place too much pressure on new signing Nani to perform in the early weeks of the new season.
"I have spoken to him and told him when I first came here I found it very difficult," he said. "I did not play my best football for six months.
"I told Nani if that happened to him not to worry. He just needs to stay mentally strong.
Ability, clearly, is not an issue. The three goals Nani has scored so far have all been outstanding, concluding with the 20-yard rocket he fired into the top corner of Glentoran's net just before half-time at the Oval last night.
Although he might take issue with the winger's acrobatic celebration, which he was supposed to have outlawed, Sir Alex Ferguson could hardly fail to be impressed by Nani's contribution.
"He is unbelievable," confirmed the former Monaco defender.
"Really, he is the same player as Cristiano.
"The only major difference is that Cristiano is more experienced and has been in the Premier League for four years now.
"Nani has scored some good goals already but he needs to be aware there is more contact in the Premier League than he has been used to and the defending is more aggressive."
