Louis Saha admits he came close to quitting Everton before signing his new deal.

Several clubs were sniffing around the former Manchester United attacker but he has disappointed some major Ligue 1 suitors by accepting a return to France seems unlikely to ever happen.

"Sometimes I think about leaving England, but honestly, I think it's the league best suited for me," he insisted.

"The mentality, the passion of supporters and privacy - all this suits me.

"So if I stay here, it would be a great pleasure.

"I don't hide the fact it would be hard to return to France."
