Everton skipper Jagielka: Chelsea hero Terry is an inspiration

Everton skipper Phil Jagielka has labelled Chelsea's John Terry as an inspiration for fellow footballers.

Terry's performances in Chelsea's double-winning season earned him a place in the PFA Team of the year as well as third place in the Football Writers' Player of the Year award.

At 34, many would have thought former England captain Terry would be past his best by now but central defensive counterpart Jagielka is well aware he is still very much at the top of his game.

"To still be playing at the level he is amazing. He can only inspire. A lot of players hit 31 and 32 and start going the wrong way," said Jagielka.

"Maybe not playing international football has helped, giving him little breaks that he may not have had previously. He's had a fantastic season and deserves all the plaudits he gets."
