Everton striker Yakubu Aiyegbeni was on target for Nigeria as they defeated North Korea 3-1 in a World Cup warm-up match on Sunday.
The 27-year old, who is being linked with a move to West Ham United, netted in the 15th minute of the clash in Johannesburg's outskirts to get the Super Eagles off to a solid start before Victor Obinna and former Newcastle United star Obafemi Martins added to the scoresheet.
As Yakubu was on song in South Africa, back in England the Hammers were preparing a bid for the ex-Middlesbrough man with new manager Avram Grant hoping to reunite with the player he managed in Israel with Maccabi Haifa.
