Everton's Coleman targeting more attacking contribution

Seamus Coleman is hoping to contribute more on the scoreboard for Everton in season 2014/15.

The Republic of Ireland right-back scored in the weekend's 2-2 draw against Arsenal at Goodison Park and is looking to hit the back of the net on more occasions following his seven-goal season last term.

"From a personal point of view, it was nice to get a goal. It was a great ball from Gareth Barry and I couldn't really miss from where I was. It would have been all the more special if we had seen the game out but I'm happy to get off the mark," he told evertontv.

"The way we play as full-backs, the manager likes us to get into advanced positions and try and get around at the back post. I did that a couple of times last season.

"The manager wants me to kick-on again. Every year you want to improve on the previous year so that means keeping my standards high. I have started well with the goal but it's all about the team at the end of the day.

"It's hard to say [whether I will score as many as last season] but what is important for me is if the team is winning matches. If I can contribute in any way, then that is brilliant and I will keep getting in and around the back post. Hopefully I can get more because it's something I want to improve on, definitely."
