Everton are chasing Benfica playmaker Pablo Aimar.

A Bola says Aimar has played a key part in guiding Benfica to the league title this season, and has caught the eye of visiting Blues scouts.

It's believed David Moyes initially sent his spies to Portugal to cast an eye over Joao Moutinho of Sporting Lisbon, but after the youngsters erratic season, which has seen him dropped from the World Cup squad, Moyes' scouts caught a glimpse of Aimar.

The former Valencia playmaker is entering the back end of his career, and at 30-years-old, he may just fancy one last shot at the big time after his career failed to take off in Spain.
