Everton new-boy McCarthy can cope with being most expensive Scottish-born footballer

New Everton signing James McCarthy says he can handle the pressure of being the most expensive Scottish-born footballer, reports BBC Sport. The 22-year-old moved to Goodison Park from Wigan for an initial £13m on Monday - eclipsing the £9.5m Spartak Moscow paid Celtic for Aiden McGeady.

McCarthy, who is on international duty with the Republic of Ireland, said: "I have had a few people on my case about it, and it's one I'm going to need to take in my stride. It's a new challenge."
