Everton are eyeing Wigan Athletic defender Jamie Carragher.

Carragher, the son of former Liverpool defender Jamie, is out of contract at the DW Stadium this summer. He began his career with Liverpool's academy.

But the Latics would be due compensation for the 18-year-old defender if a move elsewhere was agreed, says the Liverpool Echo.

Everton are in talks with Wigan over signing the centre-back, who would join the club's under-23s set-up if a deal can be done.

But the League One club would have to lower their demands for the Blues to take their interest further, at this stage.
