Everton midfielder McCarthy: Tough season for me

Everton midfielder James McCarthy admits it's been a frustrating season.

McCarthy has struggled with a hamstring injury for much of the campaign.

"It was always going to be a long recovery," said the 24-year-old. "I wanted to get back as soon as I could and it got delayed another couple of weeks but that is part and parcel of football.

"It's never nice to be injured but it's brilliant to be back and I'm delighted to be back involved in training and, most importantly, playing on the Saturday or the Sunday.

"It was always going to be frustrating. Not winning games, it's not nice. We went on one of those runs where we were playing well but not getting wins. This season we've played well and we can't get a point or three points."
