Everton manager Dyche fumes over Iwobi's Fulham move

Everton manager Sean Dyche has reiterated his frustration about the club's transfer policy.

Dyche is particularly furious over losing Alex Iwobi on transfer deadline day.

The veteran coach did admit the £22 million fee the Toffees received from Fulham was difficult to turn down.

Speaking to evertonfc.com, Dyche said: “We didn't want to lose players. There was a lot of noise over people coming out of contract.

“We couldn't really sign them all, it's a simple fact, it's a business fact so we had to pick and choose where we could. We then had to use any savings made on the wage bill that can then go into the new players coming so there has to be a balance to that of course.

“When you think of Alex with a year left – I take great value in what he gave to me, I can't speak for the time before that but what he gave to me and the team while I've been here – I didn't want to lose that player. But at the end of the day it was a very, very substantial for a player with one year left on his contract.

“So some of these things are that we've had to learn about the reality of the situation and learn to cut our cloth accordingly. It's the easiest way of putting it, to manage the best side of the business as well as the team and that had to go into the melting pot."
