Everton made a late attempt to sign PSV Eindhoven striker Ola Toivonen last night.
Voetbal International says Everton approached PSV about taking the Sweden international on-loan, but the Dutch club were insisting only on a straight sale.
Toivonen saw a move to Norwich City fall through earlier in the summer and now faces having to mend his differences with PSV coach Philip Cocu.
