Everton Football Club are keen to explore the commercial opportunities presented by star player Tim Cahill with a potential trip down under. The Toffees are in discussions with A-League club the Brisbane Roar about a pre-season tour in July and believe the trip would be worthwhile but only if Cahill is able to make it.
His availability will depend on how far Australia go at the World Cup in South Africa as the proposed tour is likely to be around July 10, the day before the World Cup final.
As well as a match against the Roar, there are also talks for games against new A-League club Melbourne Heart and reigning champions Sydney FC.
Everton chief executive Robert Elstone has spoken to representatives of the Queensland government and the Roar according to the Liverpool Echo and it is believed that things are progressing positively.
