Everton icon Cahill departs NYRB with 'great memories'

Tim Cahill has revealed that he has left New York Red Bulls with some lasting memories.

The 35-year old Australian, fresh off helping the Socceroos win the 2015 Asian Cup in his homeland, has departed the MLS club by mutual consent after two-and-a-half years in the USA.

Cahill and the club have agreed to end his stay at the Red Bull Arena on the eve of the 2015 season and the former Everton star was content with what he had achieved during his time with the New Jersey outfit.

"I've enjoyed every moment of my time at the Red Bulls and leave with great memories," said Cahill in a club statement.

"I joined with the ambition of helping to grow and positively affect soccer in the US, and I feel immensely proud of what we achieved as a team during my time in the MLS. Winning the Supporters' Shield was, without doubt, one of the best moments I have experienced in my career, and I am now looking forward to my next chapter, which I will announce in due course."

During his spell with New York, Cahill scored 16 goals and provided 11 assists in 72 appearances for the Red Bulls.

The ex-Millwall ace, who was a MLS All-Star and named in the MLS Best XI in 2013, helped the club win the 2013 MLS Supporters' Shield before a fourth-place finish in the Eastern Conference in 2014.
