Everton ease into FA Cup fourth round with win at Cheltenham

Everton are through to the next phase of the FA Cup after hammering Cheltenham Town 5-1 at the Abbey Business Stadium on Monday night.

David Moyes had a near full-strength team to take on the League Two outfit and it worked a treat as the Toffees easily cruised to the fourth round with goals either side of the half-time break.

Nikica Jelavic opened the scoring in the 12th minute when he slotted home a rebound off the post from Marouane Fellaini's effort before Leighton Baines made it 2-0 just after the 20-minute mark from the penalty spot.

Leon Osman gave Everton a three-goal advantage four minutes into the second half after receiving a neat pass from Baines before Cheltenham's Russell Penn got one back two minutes later too give the home side a small glimmer of hope.

But that was soon snuffed out when Seamus Coleman took the scoreline to 4-1 prior to the hour-mark after a one-two with Victor Anichebe which ended in him chipping the ball over Robins keeper Scott Brown.

The tie was then wrapped up in the 89th minute when Fellaini tucked home Anichebe's cross to set up a meeting with the winner of next week's Sunderland versus Bolton replay.
