Everton defender James Tarwkowski insists there's no excuses after defeat at home to West Ham.

Everton had plenty of chances, but failed to take advantage as the visitors won 3-1 on the day.

Tarkwoski later said, "We have to take ownership, we create chances and defend well but we don't put the ball in the back of the net.

"We didn't put the game to bed, the penalty, four or five great opportunities, you get punished in this league.

"We can't just keep saying their keeper has played well, it's on us to score goals. We cause teams problems, win the ball back high but if we don't score we don't win football matches.

"We know we can defend leads but in general we have to score so many more goals this season."
