Everton defender James Tarkowski believes it is important for his teammates to focus on what they can control.
The Goodison Park club is not experiencing the best moment at present.
Not only are Everton in the Premier League relegation zone, but fan protests have created a poor atmosphere around the team.
Asked about recent protests, Tarkowski said: "It is completely out of our control. Fans are allowed their opinion.
“As a group of players and staff we need to focus on our job. We weren't good enough [loss to Southampton]."
"Down, disappointed, frustrated. Not a great day at all. Things need to change quickly," he added to BBC Sport.
