Everton defender Stones grateful for Jagielka influence

Everton defender John Stones admits he's learning every day from skipper Phil Jagielka.

The 20-year-old, who has partnered Jagielka at the centre of defence in each of the last three games, says the Club captain has helped him ever since joining the Blues from Barnsley in January 2013.

Stones told evertontv: "It's hard to describe how good it is for me and for the other players to have Phil around.

"As a young lad, coming in and playing with such an established international player and with all the things that he's done, it's fantastic, and the list of things I can learn from him is endless.

"I can't thank Jags enough for what he has done for me and that goes for a lot of my other teammates at the back, who have helped me through a lot of games.

"I try to put my own stamp on things as well but I'm still learning from the likes of Jags, Sylvain [Distin] and all the other defenders here all the time."
