Everton defender Holgate on facing Man City: No-one getting carried away

Everton defender Mason Holgate says they'll stay grounded with the club now in second place on the Premier League table.

Holgate believes Everton will stay level-headed after a brilliant run of results has taken them to the upper echelons of the Premier League table.

On the prospect of winning against Manchester City tonight, he said: "It'll send a big message out because of the quality team that they are.

"But if you look at the last few games that we've had, we've played good teams like that and got results anyway.

"It's not about sending out a message, it's about three points and that's what we're after.

"I think you've seen a few games ago everyone was getting on to us saying we'd lost form and things like that, but the league's so tight at the moment.

"All we can do is concentrate on ourselves and take each game at a time, not get too carried away just as we didn't get too low when we lost a couple on the bounce.

"It's about staying level-headed, turning out every game and getting performances and three points - and then at the end of the season sitting back and looking at where that leaves us."
