Everton are confident of securing Mikel Arteta to a new deal.

The News of the World says while there is growing interest in Arteta, notably from Arsenal and Manchester City, Everton are confident the Spaniard will stay on Merseyside.

Arteta has a couple of years left on his deal and he could also renegotiate before the start of next season.

Everton's only worry is that Arsene Wenger will come calling with a large chunk of the cash he looks like banking from the sale of Cesc Fabregas.
