Everton coach Stubbs happy for Adam Forshaw over loan move

Everton reserves coach Alan Stubbs is delighted for Adam Forshaw over his loan move.

The young midfielder has joined Brentford.

"I'm chuffed to bits for the lad because he's been a credit to himself. He's got a fantastic attitude and has seen everyone else go out on loan," Stubbs told the Liverpool Echo.

"He was getting to the stage where he was wandering if it'd happen for him, and he has earned it as much as anyone. His performance levels have been very good and that's why we've been surprised nobody came in for him because we obviously want them to gain valuable experience on loan.

"He was due to go to Inverness Caley Thistle last month but that never worked out in the end, and it was just a matter of not letting the disappointment get to him. He has done and now hopefully things will work out there and give him the world of confidence.

"It's difficult for him because I don't know if a lot of managers look at his size. He's playing in the central midfield, but for me you have to look first and foremost at ability and technically he's very good.

"For a small player he's full of tenacity and has a great work-rate. But biggest of all he has a huge team-ethic.

"It's difficult for the young lads at the moment because a lot of managers, regardless of your position, just go for the usual things - size and strength. But for me, when you're looking at a player I look at ability. It doesn't matter how strong or big he is, ability will always outweigh those factors."
