Everton are challenging Liverpool for Stuttgart ace Pavel Pogrebnyak.
Soviet Sport says Everton boss David Moyes is unhappy with the lack of goals from his current strike force and has identified Pogrebnyak as the man to solve his problems at Goodison Park.
However, Liverpool are also thought to be keen on the 26-year-old Russia striker as Roy Hodgson looks to increase the potency of his frontline, which currently relies too heavily on Anfield hero Fernando Torres.
Despite the interest from Everton, Liverpool still remain favourites to land their man after Reds owners NESV pledged around £30 million to support Hodgson in the transfer market come January.
