Everton captain Tarkowski highlights team spirit after win at Burnley

Everton captain James Tarkowski was delighted with victory at Burnley

The Blues won 2-0 at Turf Moor via goals from Amadou Onana and Michael Keane.

Tarkowski said: "We know we were a threat against any team. We played these in the cup a few months ago and were good in the set-pieces. We are land of the giants, especially when we brought Keano and Ben Godfrey in and Onana who can leap like a basketballer. You see that with the goal how powerful he is. That's the same in every game no just this one.

"It's been big. We have had a tough couple of seasons. It's a really unified group here. We have Seamus Coleman who is a big leader and character - I've not seen anything like him - and I am just supporting him. There are loads of leaders to mention. It is a real group game and I think today showed that with the lads who came in.

"We've got a good understanding of what we are doing. The lads are understanding us and what to expect and we just want to make it difficult for teams. We are powerful and quick and we want to play to our strengths. You have seen that when we are now picking up wins.

"Every team is the same. Depleted on numbers, It is an opportunity for players to come in and play like they did. There will be some lads coming back next week hopefully and we will try and win again and progress in the cup."

On his own form, he added: "I am at the age when most players, especially in my position, reach their peak. I have learnt all my mistakes and I am at the age now when I understand the game - especially under this manager. I just want to be consistent for as long as I can and keep what I'm doing."
