Everton captain Jagielka hails England team spirit

Everton skipper Phil Jagielka has hailed the team spirit within the England camp.

Jagielka, 30, has become a key player in Roy Hodgson's squad, with Rio Ferdinand retiring from international duty and John Terry currently out of the picture.

Jagielka said: "The manager has told us it's not important what anyone else thinks - it's all about what we think.

"We're Team England and that's what we want to be. We've got a great bunch of lads, a great bunch of staff and it's a pleasure to come and play for England.

"Drawing in Brazil last week was definitely a great end to the season. It was important to finish it well. There can't be a better way of going into the remaining qualifiers, than by having achieved a good result in Brazil.

"The second-half performance will certainly give us confidence when - hopefully - we are back there in 12 months.

"Now we want to be back in the heat of Brazil next year. If we come back, there will be no big surprises about that heat and the humidity."
