Everton can compete on domestic and continental front - Martinez

Everton manager Roberto Martinez has said that his side is now capable of challenging on both the domestic and continental front simultaneously.

The Merseyside club bowed out of the Europa League on Thursday after the 5-2 defeat at the hands of Ukrainian club Dynamo Kyiv but rallied to down QPR 2-1 in the Premier League at Loftus Road on Suday.

Martinez revealed that his side has had to learn the hard way how to combat the Thursday night-into-weekend schedule which comes along with the participation in European competition.

"When we beat Newcastle after Dynamo Kyiv (last week), I felt the squad is ready to play two games with that intensity and without mental fatigue." said Martinez.

"We were disappointed, being out of the Europa League, because I felt we had been fantastic in the competition and we were very unfortunate in Kyiv.

"But what we learned will help us in the future with a different group, and we need to take advantage and make sure the next eight games are the opportunity to get as many points as we can and finish the season really strong."
